Prayer Requests: May '06

5/10/06: For our family especially our wonderful kids (homeschool, faithfulness, love, joy, patience in family life)

5/10/06: Wisdom and Guidance in decision making

5/10/06: A team if the Lord should move us to a new area

5/10/06: That the Lord would grant results from sowing the GOOD SEED that Micah has done here in Cajamarca

Prayer Requests: August/September '05

8/6/05: URGENT! Pray with us for our friends Ruben and Miriam in Chugur. They have received various threats from the "Ronda" (a KluKluxKlan type group) to stop disrupting the peace by preaching the gospel and meeting together with believers. Pray for their new converts that they would have courage in spite opposition and threat of their lives. The group will be coming to the decision point in the study regarding baptism within the next two months, pray that those who are of genuine faith would not give in to fear and that they would be baptized.

8/01/05: Please pray with us about our future ministry focus. We made a commitment to stay and work here with Centro Biblico Cajamarca for one year. We still don't have any clear ideas of what we'll focus our energies on when we come back to Peru after six months in the U.S. Pray that we'll find some area of the Lord's work that we can whole-heartedly pour ourselves into.

8/01/05:
1)Smooth packing, traveling and transition to the States.
2)That we would remain healthy once we leave Peru, because we won't have health insurance in the States.
3)For many opportunities to build up the Kingdom in all of this craziness.
4)That the Lord would use us and that He'd give us wisdom and courage to make decisions.

08/01/05: We praise the Lord that the plans are coming together for this fall in the States! We found a house and a car at reasonable prices. We have many exciting things on our itinerary and are looking forward to completing the work the Lord has for us in the next months! It will be neat to see all of our friends and family!

Prayer Requests: April/May '05

5/01/05: Please pray with us about our future ministry focus. We made a commitment to stay and work here with Centro Biblico Cajamarca for one year. Over the last year and 5 months we’ve been praying that the Lord would show us clearly where we ought to be, whether that means stay or change.

5/01/05: 1st National Worker’s Congress is just around the corner. Please pray that this would be a time of refreshment for the elders/leaders of the churches in Peru, and that they would be challenged to go back to their churches with a fresh fire for service. Please pray that the time would be unifying and that the Lord would use it to impact His work in Peru on a national level. The dates again for the conference are May 24-29.

as of 3/05: We are now an official part of the leadership of the youth group. Pray that we would allow the Lord to use us in a big way in this capacity. We see so much potential and yet a great need for maturity among the young people. Pray specifically for a core group of mature leaders. (Much more could be said about this, see updates in upcoming months)

4/1/2005: The evangelistic Bible study in our home has an average of 14 every Tuesday night (5-8 members). Pray that many more of our unbelieving neighbors would be interested and that they would become part of our group so that they can learn more of this amazing gift we've been given.

4/20/2005: Women's English Bible study started last week. My friend Nadine from Canada leads it, and I (Amy) support her. Pray that new ladies would come. Pray that our LORD Jesus will change lives, and that the ladies could come to recognize their only consolation and hope is in HIM.

4/24/2005: Being part of the "leadership group" brings constant challenges (there are 4 unnamed elders, including Micah, doing all the work of elders). It amazes us how many difficulties arise on a daily basis. The group has met at least 3 times this last week alone! It tests our total reliance upon the LORD. Pray for daily encouragement, emotional stability, and progress! That the Lord would work through these problems to build his church.

4/24/2005: We thank the Lord for the great group of people that we get to work with! We ask that the Lord would bring many to faith through our ministry, raise up serious leaders, and that HE would constantly consecrate to himself those that are already serving.

4/24/2005: Please continue to pray for our family in these areas:
Health
(it seems like the kids are always coming down w/ something new)
Encouragement
(the Lord IS faithful, we want to be concious of this moment by moment)
Love
(that we would be an example to the people around us because of our love for one another)

01/01/05: We praise the Lord for this last year! We have had many difficulties, but we have seen the work of the Lord through many of those difficulties as well as in many areas.

01/01/05: Please pray for us as the time of our committment to Centro Biblico Cajamarca has been fulfilled. We are praying the Lord would make the way obvious for what he has in mind for us next.

Please continue to pray for our co-workers Godo and Teresa, Godo has high blood pressure and Teresa has several health issues. Please pray for another elder. (see September requests for details) We are thankful that at this time there is a group of men that meet weekly to discuss and make decisions. We'd still like to see another named elder as soon as possible.

02/17/05: The Bible study with all English speaking ladies, many of whom are not believers or who may be very recent believers, will start again soon. I would love to see the Lord do some work among these lovely ladies, and to use me if he chooses to. Pray that new ladies will come.

02/17/05: We have made a number of new conacts and friends that are somehow related to the mine. Wouldn't it be neat if the Lord brought them to himself using us?! I especially, have met a lot of moms, Peruvian and others, many of whom feel very lonely. Please pray that I would be an encouragement to them and that I could show them the love of Christ, not only to them personally but in how I love my husband and children.

10/13/04: In answer to your prayers, in an ultrasound yesterday (10/12), everything looks great with the baby. It is in the right position, has enough amniotic fluid, etc. and can be born safely any day. I (Amy) feel very comfortable with the prospects of labor in a couple weeks and praise the Lord earnestly for taking care of the baby and I up until now.

10/13/04: Please continue to pray for the birth that all continues to go well.

Please continue to pray for our co-workers Godo and Teresa, as well as for another elder. (see September requests for details)

10/12/04: There are several new believers or "almost" believers that we are directly involved with. Please pray that the Holy Spirit would develop commitment, seriousness, maturity in them. From our home Bible study: Hainard & Jessica, Edwin & Berta. Micah's evangelistic study: Erasmo & Elena, Sergio & Rosa, Cesar.

10/06/04: I've started going to a Bible study with all English speaking ladies, many of whom are not believers or who may be very recent believers. I would love to see the Lord do some work among these lovely ladies, and to use me if he chooses to.

Monthly leaders' conferences Nov. 13 for the local leaders from Cajamarca, San Marcos and Auque.

Upcoming trip to Puerto Maldonado Nov. 15-23, which will include a river trip as well as encouragement for the believers in the church there.

9/27/04: In answer to your prayers, Cajamarca is at peace, at least for now. Strikes could happen again, but we're happy that life is back to normal.

9/15/04: Please continue to pray for peace for Cajamarca. There is a gold mine just outside of town that is owned in majority by an American mining company in Denver. The people in Cajamarca and the farmers of the outlying areas are all in an uproar over the mine's policies on water management and contamination. So, for the last week and a half the whole city and its outlying areas have been protesting! Public transportation strikes, roadblocks, marches on the plaza, and the vendors in the market being abused for selling in spite of the protests are all a part of our every day life for the last 2 weeks. Please pray for resolution soon.

9/12/04: The prayer request below has been answered in a powerful and surprising way! The Lord has healed little Miguelito and he is now at home with his parents. The tests telling us what the infection was due to came back inconclusive. He will have to travel sometime this month to undergo testing to find out the extent of the damage of the infection, but for now he is stable, happy and adjusting to his new life outside the womb and better yet outside the hospital! Continue to pray for his full recovery.

**URGENT** 9/02/04: Friends of ours here Miguel and Eva Sanchez, had a baby a week ago and the baby has come down with some sort of an infection throughout his body. The doctor was not hopeful that he would survive. He was having convulsions, vomiting blood, and had to receive a blood transfusion. He is currently being treated for the convulsions and jaundice. The test results will arrive today. His name is Miguel Angel. Please pray with us for his full recovery.

In answer to your prayers, we’ve found a doctor and a clinic here in Cajamarca so we won’t have to travel!! We also met a friend from New Zealand who is a midwife who will attend the birth and help in any way.

9/01/04: Please continue to pray that the baby will stay healthy, be in the right position and that the birth will not be accompanied by any complications. Pray for peace and rest for Amy as the facilities here are not at all like those of the States.

9/01/04: Our co-workers Godo and Teresa have much on their plates as Godo is currently the only elder. Pray for grace for them and for endurance. Pray also for their health, they both suffer from several stress related illnesses.

~*~ PRAISE ~*~
10/13/04: In answer to your prayers, the Lord has worked it out that we will be able to buy the car! Until this week it looked like the other party had matched our offer and were going to get the car. But for some reason couldn't come up with the money. So, we will get the car afterall. We will pay for it now, but won't take possesion of it until the seller missionaries leave in January for their furlough.
9/01/04: We are considering buying a car so that Amy and the family can come on ministry trips with me to the outlying areas. Some missionary friends of ours are selling theirs and we have to make an winning offer as there are others also interested in it. It is in good condition and seems to be a perfect fit for our family. Pray that the Lord would give wisdom and lead clearly in this decision.

9/01/04: Please continue to pray earnestly that the Lord would raise up another elder to lead here in Centro Biblico.
