We live in Cajamarca.

Altitude:
2750m, or 9022ft. above sea level
Population:
70,000 (as of 2000)
Average Daily Temperature:
62F, 16C during the day
Language:
Spanish in the city, Quechua in outlying areas.
Interesting Facts:
"Cajamarca is famous for its Carnaval - this one is a particularly wet affair, and its water fights are worse than usual. Local teenagers don't limit themselves to soaking each other with water - paint, oil and urine have all been reported! Carnaval is the few days before Lent." - Lonely Planet Peru, 2000

To take a taxi pretty much anywhere around town it costs 2 Nuevo Soles, equivalent to $ 0.57!

About 5 miles away from the city are the Baños del Inca, where there are natural hotsprings. There is a bathing center there, where they direct the water into huge tubs in private rooms, where you can bathe or relax for $2/hour.
