So far, we haven't had a problem receiving mail. We've heard stories from other missionaries
about how they've had to pay customs fees on heavy boxes or had things stolen from the mail.
However, we have found that you have to be rather vague on the custom declaration sheet because so many things are prohibited entry into Peru by mail.
To see the random list of prohibitions, click here. Many times we put "birthday gift", instead of Buzz Lightyear toy, or "office supplies", instead of computer program and printer refills. (We are still waiting to see if we will receive that particular package or not. -- ARRIVED SAFELY! the peruvian mail system maintains its perfect record... even if it is SLOW)
We've also been advised that to avoid customs problems, if you would like to send us a package, it is best to send a package under 4 lbs. and send it to the Centro Biblico address.
