December 6, 2004

Down the muddy waters of the Madre de Dios river we went. Godo (my co-worker here in Cajamarca) and I were deep in some of the most virgin jungle of the world. Our mission: Preach the Gospel! After three hours in a canoe we arrived at Palma Real (the village of Essa Ejja natives where I had preached the gospel 3 years before). As we walked into the village all kinds of people began to gather around us and I could hear my name being whispered from all directions...
"Miqueas"... "Miqueas"... "Miqueas"...
They remembered Me!

The next 2 days were filled with jungle hikes, hunting, fishing, singing, preaching, and bible studies. What a life! We ate big huge fat maggots (tastes like moldy almonds saturated in grease), wild jungle pig meat, roasted bananas, and all kinds of strange fruits, nuts, and roots. For such exquisite and exotic foods that would have been a real expensive restaurant bill in the USA!
Humid, hot, and sticky.
Tarantulas, mosquitoes, alligators, and snakes.
An absolute paradise!

At the evening meeting the entire village showed up (250 people). We started up the generator screwed in a light-bulb and I preached my heart out. Gospel, gospel, gospel!!! Then we put on the "Pilgrim's Progress" video, and ended the night with Godo preaching. Gospel, gospel, gospel!!! The next day we spent hours talking to both individuals and small groups about Christ. We visited hut after hut until we had canvassed the whole village. We ended our time in Palma Real in a tearful meeting with those that had made commitments to Christ (5 couples). Please pray for Lucio, Arturro, Senon, Velisario, Segundo and their "women" (no one is married in the entire village).

I learned much about the culture while we were there... Most everyone in the village believes firmly in the existence of Ishawa (A demon that appears in bodily form to them when they are out in the forest). Several years ago there was a extremely powerful witch-doctor who, it is said, both healed and killed people with the Ishawa's power. It is also believed that every time a Essa Ejja dies his spirit creates a heard of wild jungle pigs (the main food staple of the tribe). Another cultural thing that is having a devastating effect on the health of the village is the custom of sharing their "women". All the men freely share their "woman" with one another and thus spread all kinds of sexual diseases not to mention all the other terrible consequences that come with such wickedness.

There is a real need for a full-time missionary/pastor to work in this village not to mention in the surrounding ones. Every single one of the 5 men listed above are leaders in the village and one of them (Arturro) is the chief. They have influence on the rest of the community and I tremble at the thought that this entire village could be won for Christ if someone could stay their long term. 3 years ago in Puerto Maldonado I met a man named Usias. He is a strong and faithful Christian who knows the rivers and the jungle life well. On this trip I spoke both with him and with the elders in the P.M assembly about the possibility of him working in Palma Real as a full-time national missionary. Everyone was enthusiastic about the idea. This man and his wife could be supported with $50 - $100 a month. Please pray for me in this decision.

As we headed back up river to town (Puerto Maldonado) we picked up a few gold miners along the way. The trip is 6 hours and we took advantage of every minute. Gospel, gospel, gospel!! After about 3 hours of lots of explaining and lots of questions four of the miners asked us if the could make a decisions for Christ right then and there! Each of them prayed a prayer and then Godo and I prayed for them. God knows their hearts. And I pray that it was genuine.

We arrived in Puerto Maldonado badly sun-burned, mosquito bitten, dirty, sweaty and very happy. This letter would be painfully long if I wrote of all the events that took place in the city. The long and short of it is: Gospel, gospel, gospel!!! Every night for almost a week we held meetings in the church as Godo and I preached. Every day we spoke of Christ to people in the streets. Every meal was a time of communion and encouragement as we ate in the homes of different believers from the assembly. The Lord truly blessed our time.

"Pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak." -Eph 6:19-20

October 13, 2004

Dear Friends and Family,

Things are back to normal again around here in Cajamarca, although they threaten another strike could happen anytime. We’re not worried about that however, and our lives and work go on as before. We are grateful that the Lord protected us and gave us peace in midst of a situation that could’ve been worse.

September: (Here are some of the things that we’ve been doing)
Micah started an evangelistic Bible study with 5 adults and their children. Pray for seriousness among them. There is a team of elders between the churches in Cajamarca that put on quarterly conferences for the leaders of the churches in this department (province of Peru) to build leadership & teaching skills. Micah and Guy Pembroke (missionary from the UK) were in charge of the conference here in the city this last month and one young man made a profession of faith. Pray for Pedro that he would be rooted and built up in Christ.
Our shipment of things from the States arrived this month, so we unpacked most of those boxes. Fun stuff like Christmas decorations, the kids’ toys as well as the more practical things like Micah’s study books all came and it was like Christmas in September!
Micah is in charge of evangelism, welcoming of newcomers and integrating all these into an evangelistic study and on to the study that culminates with baptism. We had a meeting for all the instructors of these studies to encourage them with their studies, to make more contacts and to keep up the good work. You can pray for more interest in evangelism and for more leaders for the courses.
In our home Bible study we have benefited from two new couples in the last couple weeks. One couple we’re not sure if they are believers yet. The other couple, the husband and wife both have made firm decisions and we are excited to see their growth already. Please pray for these two couples. The first couple are Edwin and Berta, the second Hainard and Jessica.
Micah made another trip to Auque (the place that is at the end of the narrow trail along the very high cliff, you can see the pictures on our website) for a wedding of some of the believers there and for baptisms. Unfortunately, he came back pretty sick and is just now recovering a week and a half later.
I (Amy) have had the pleasure of joining a Bible study with all English speakers (mostly miners wives or somehow associated with the mine). Most women are unbelievers or immature believers at best. I’ve been excited to add some depth to the study and look forward to the potential neat friendship with the older lady who leads the study. Please pray that the Lord would work in the ladies hearts and use me if needed :)

We are very excited about the things the Lord is doing here. There is so much more than a letter can tell. Thank you so much for praying for us and thinking of us.
Big things coming up in October/November:
The baby is due the end of October and my (Amy’s) parents are coming the first part of November.
Leader’s conferences Nov. 13 (different than those mentioned above, these are every month)
Trip to Puerto Maldonado Nov. 15-23

We will be sending out an e-mail when the baby is born, so we’ll talk to you again soon as the due date is only 2½ weeks away! Thank you again for your prayers.

Love,
Micah & Amy Tuttle

September 15 & 17:
(prayer request letters in regard to protesting in the city)

Subject: Americans are evacuated from Cajamarca
Date: 9/15

Hello Friends and Family,

Little did we know it but we are in some danger here in Cajamarca! There is a gold mine just outside of town that is owned in majority by an American mining company in Denver. The people in Cajamarca and the farmers of the outlying areas are all in an uproar over the mine's policies on water management and contamination. So, for the last week and a half, the city has been protesting! All the taxis and public transportation have stopped, everyone gathers in the central plaza in the mornings, and no stores are opened. They've put roadblocks on both ends of the highway in and out of the city, so we're stuck even if we wanted to leave. We stocked up on food yesterday because we heard today would be worse, so we're set for a week or so anyway.

We heard this morning that all the Americans from the mine have been evacuated to Lima. Until we heard this we didn't feel any danger at all, just a lot of unfriendly looks. We still don't feel like we're in any real danger, but please pray for our city that this situation would be resolved quickly.

2500 Quechua Bibles that are hot off the press are already on their way from Lima, and so you can pray that nothing happens to them because of these protests or roadblocks.

If you'd like to read any further about the mine vs. the Peruvian locals follow the links...

Subject: American missionaries safe in Cajamarca
Date: 9/17/2004

Hey there everybody,
Don't worry! Although the situation has been volatile, as missionaries we haven't sensed any real danger to our well-being. The mine did evacuate its American workers that were not indispensable, but we think even that was an exaggeration. The main concern was the roadblocks that would keep food/supplies from coming in and out of the city, and keep us from being able to travel (which we needed to do last week). As for the public transportation strike, we can walk to pretty much anywhere in the city if we had to. The marches on the plaza are just annoying, the only ones who suffer are those taxis or vendors who do not honor the strike and suffer from retaliation from those who are more "gung-ho". It just takes a few "crazies" riling up the crowds, as many Peruvians take to a cause like nothing we've seen before. The majority of taxi drivers and people we've talked to are sympathetic to both sides. So, all that to say, please don't worry, just pray about the situation as you remember us.

Besides, even if there ever was any danger, we are in the hands of our loving Savior.

Love,
Micah & Amy Tuttle

August: (written, September 5, 2004)

Hello Friends and Family!
It’s been a little longer than usual since we’ve written. Everything is going wonderfully with us. We want to thank all of you who pray for us, send us packages and letters as well as financial offerings for support of the work. All of these are a huge encouragement for us. We (the whole family) just got back from a 10 day trip visiting the following places: Choramampa, Chilete, Pancanga, Ucupe (no running water for several days), Chiclayo, Trujillo, Lima. The first half of the trip we spent time encouraging the believers and preaching in various assemblies. The second half of the trip we spent together as family time. We only have 8 weeks before we get to meet the newest member of our family. Amy is noting the nearness of her due date. Javen and Cullen are also growing like weeds, and are both learning at a 1st grade level. Bria’s starting to say many new words in Spanish as well as English.

My heart is in evangelism, and I get to share the gospel with people every day. Usually in taxi cabs or in small stores or out on the streets. One evening, we had a large group of unbelievers over to our house to sit around the campfire, drink coffee, sing and we ended with a gospel message. It was an excellent time as eight people stood wanting to know Christ and/or to show interest in beginning a bible study. Another night we were the entertainment for a special birthday dinner for one of the believers. He asked me to share the good news of new life in Christ with all 30+ of his family members that had come, the majority unbelievers. There are so many opportunities to share the gospel, if we only take advantage of them! Many times I make the opportunities myself, it’s no use sitting back waiting your whole life for God to "provide a clear opening" to share the gospel. Here's my challenge to you: Spreading this message is what we’re called to! Pray for courage that you will create opportunities and make use of every one of them!!! I often echo the words of Paul "Woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!"

A few weeks ago we officially inaugurated the new assembly, "Centro Biblico", in San Marcos. That same day we also had the first baptism we've seen in that town. I had the great honor of baptizing a young man, his name is Jaime. He came to know Christ about 7 months ago, and ever since, has been eager to learn more of the Bible and walk closely with the Lord. Each time I've visited, I've spent a good amount of time with him. That day I felt like John the Baptist as I stood in the water with Jaime and preached at the top of my lungs to the gathered crowd. After Jaime told how Christ saved him, he gave a live testimony of being buried beneath the waters in a symbol of death and then raised up out of the waters as a symbol of resurrection life. It was an unforgettable moment!

Also this last month, we attended the 51st anniversary of the assembly in Granja Porcon. About 1300 people were there! They had LONG 4 hour meetings in the mornings, 2½hrs. in the afternoons, and 4 hours again in the evening for 4 days! On the talent night, after several hours of "talents", it was midnight when the announcer said, "And now Micah is going to end our night with something very special." That was the first I had heard of it. I couldn't believe it! No one had said anything about me wrapping things up! Every bench was crammed with people, the aisles were jammed packed, there were people hanging through the windows, and more outside watching the festivities on a big projector screen. The crowd went bonkers when I announced that I was going to teach them a song in three languages (what other talent could I come up with without notice?!). I haven’t ever sung for a crowd, let alone a crowd that big! I sang the song "This is the day that the Lord has made" in Spanish, English, and in Essa Ejja (a jungle language). I think everyone laughed the hardest when they tried to sing in English. For Quechua speakers, English is a very strange sounding language! :) Isn’t it interesting to see how God works? God is using me! I’m someone who struggles with what others think, but God works miracles daily in my life as he uses me in situations such as these. Delivering any other message, I don't think I would be able to take it, but as God’s instrument when he provides the opportunity to be his ambassador, he always provides me with the composure needed as well. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t get nervous!

Prayer Requests & Praise

We’ve found a doctor and a clinic here in Cajamarca so we won’t have to travel!! We also met a friend from New Zealand who is a midwife who will attend the birth and help in any way. But please pray that the baby will stay healthy, be in the right position and that the birth will not be accompanied by any complications. Pray for peace and rest for Amy as the facilities here are not at all like those of the States.

Our co-workers Godo and Teresa have much on their plates as Godo is currently the only elder. Pray for grace for them and for endurance. Pray also for their health, they both suffer from several stress related illnesses.

We are considering buying a car so that Amy and the family can come on ministry trips with me to the outlying areas. Some missionary friends of ours are selling theirs and we have to make an winning offer as there are others also interested in it. It is in good condition and seems to be a perfect fit for our family. Pray that the Lord would give wisdom and lead clearly in this decision.

Please pray earnestly that the Lord would raise up another elder to lead here in Centro Biblico.

We hope that you will not forget to pray for us. We desperately need it! We are faced with a fierce battle every day in our own lives, in our family, among friends and in the work here. Satan would love for us to fall. God loves to sustain us, he is faithful.
Love,
Micah and Amy Tuttle

July 21, 2004:

Dear friends and family,
The last eight days of June we had part of a team from Spain come stay with us. The days were packed with activities (visitation, evangelism, tourism) and meetings in the assemblies nearly every night. One day we took the team to San Marcos (a small town about two hours drive from Cajamarca). There we were accepted into two universities and spoke to the students about Christ. One of the universities even made it mandatory that all 300 students attend our meeting!

San Marcos is a town of about 15,000 people in which our assembly has been trying to start a work for the last 7 months. The Lord has brought about 40 people that meet regularly on Friday nights, and we planned to take advantage of having the Spain team to have an evangelistic meeting. So after visiting the universities, a few of us went out on the streets inviting anybody and everybody to a special meeting that night. Many people came out so that there wasn’t enough room in the building and people were crowded out into the street.

In the first week of July, after the Spain team left, we began to gear up for our assembly’s 14th anniversary. Church anniversaries are a real big deal here, lasting 4 or 5 days. The festivities began with the killing of a bull cow at the church at 7:00am Thursday morning. No, we are not going back to the Old Testament sacrificial system, it was to feed everyone at the special Sunday lunch. Peruvians really know how to make the most of the cow here as Javen and Cullen both received parts of a lung in their soups and on another occasion, I had a tasty eyeball! It isn’t half bad! :) As part of the 4 full days of activities, I had the privilege of preaching at the evangelistic night to which everyone invited their friends and family. I think it was the most fun I’ve ever had preaching the ultimate message to a packed out church.

Many of you have been praying for Marcelino and Juana, I am so pleased to share with you, that the Lord has really been working in their lives! I met them the first week that we were here in Cajamarca and I’ve seen their lives change drastically over the last 7 months. They have a small store in their home and of their own accord have stopped selling alcohol and cigarettes, both good money makers. They have taken down the pornography from the walls in their store, and are planning to get married. I haven’t mentioned any of these things specifically to them, simply reading the Bible together has cut to their hearts. The word of God works in those who believe it! It was quite an emotional moment hearing their testimonies before the entire church last Sunday as they were baptized along with two others. Nine were baptized three weeks earlier.

The church is really growing and it looks like there will be even more baptisms next month. The Devil doesn’t like what is happening at all and so we are experiencing several big problems in the midst of all the great things that the Lord is doing. This letter would be way too long if I told all the difficulties, the latest of which is our stolen camera and the church computer. I will just ask that you pray for us as "our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness in the heavenly places."

Amy is busy teaching our kids 4-5 days a week and the Peruvian kids 1 day a week. The kids are doing great. They are learning to read, to add, and to write along with a whole bunch of fun stuff on the side. They had a fun month last month starting seeds for a vegetable garden and this month they’re learning about matter, manners and measurement. Amy’s ministry to our own kids is tremendous and I think it is the most important thing that either of us accomplishes here in Peru. The pregnancy is going very well, the only problem is that we don’t have a doctor or the remotest idea where the baby will be born. Please pray that we will find a suitable hospital. Amy is about 5 ½ months along, her due date is November 1st.

June 22, 2004:

Dear Friends and Family,

In the April letter I told you a bit about a trip I made to Auque. Antonio, a deacon in our Cajamarca assembly, and I took another trip for three days this last weekend to teach, evangelize, and encourage. Through this work, which is only about 9 months old, the Lord has produced 15 or so believers who are all fired up to reach the other thousand people in their caserío.

On our way there, after seeing many amazing views and sweating real good on the five mile trail, we finally arrived at our destination. As we ate our peas, potatoes, and half boiled egg, I discussed our game plan for the next few days with Concepción (the main leader in the new assembly). I was astonished to hear from him that they only have 3 Bibles in the entire community! He himself has been studying and preaching from a small version of the gospel of Mark in cartoons! Needless to say, he asked me for Bibles which I’ll be able to provide when I see him again in 2 weeks.

Friday afternoon, we were walking and saw a group of men clearing away rocks from a field up above. Some of the rocks the men were attempting to move were so big they needed to use huge iron bars for leverage as 5 or 6 of them would try to pry one out of the ground and the rest pushed to move it to a pile of rocks in the middle of the field. Below the cliff, out of sight of the men, was a smaller group of people harvesting potatoes from their field. Neither group could actually see the other. When we saw the workers, we made our way to preach to the gathered crowd.

Suddenly, we heard terrified shouts, and screams of warning. The men had successfully pried loose a boulder nearly the size of a small car. It was rolling, thumping and tumbling toward us from a long way off, but more urgently, right for the group of potato pickers below. The harvesters could hear the shouts and soon were running every which way, as we watched in horror. One young woman ran right below the path of the falling boulder, slipping and falling. The boulder fell, and missed crushing her by about twelve inches. She was spared by the grace of God.

Seeing the tremendous opportunity, we ran to the site, the fearful men from above arriving at the same time. We all sat down dazed and very aware of the fragileness of life. I stood up and began to preach about the mercy of God shown to that woman, and how it could have been anyone of the group. I asked the group the question, "If you had died at that moment by the falling rock, where would you have gone?" For the next half hour, they were the most attentive group I have ever had the opportunity of preaching to. I strongly felt the Holy Spirit’s presence. Please pray that the message of God’s salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ would burn in their hearts, and someday produce bountiful fruit.

We are aware of the Lord providing opportunities for us to share of him as we are his ambassadors. Please pray that we would take advantage of every one. I’m not sure we want to ask for more opportunities of this gravity, but do ask that we would be conscious of our position and responsibility before the Lord.

"We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God! God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God!"

May:

Hey there everybody,
Just got home about 20 minutes ago. How great it is to be in our house again! Everything is the same and in great condition or better... our dog "bunny" has doubled in size, she's so pretty! The boys' desks were painted in bright colored, wild patterns (they were very excited) and all the plants in our garden are chopped down to the bare minimum (it looked like a jungle before we left, I'm glad it will all eventually grow back). Bria's enjoying everything from a new perspective since she wasn't walking before we left. Our coworker Godo was at the airport to pick us up and Rosa our househelper was here at the house to greet us as well.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the States as crazy as it was, but it is so great to be back here! It almost feels like home! We spent the last week in Lima waiting for the kids' paperwork to process through as well as the transfer of Micah and my visas to the new system. It was worth it to get it all done, but a long wait nonetheless. So, as far as visas go, all our work is done. What a relief!

Now we can get back to business :)

Thank you all for your prayers, once again the Lord has surprised and blessed us with exceedingly smooth travels, all the paperwork came through on time with no glitches, we've all been healthy, AND He's kept us sane through the midst of all the craziness! We humbly accept these enormous blessings from the Lord our God as He works in answer to your prayers, and as testimony to His great love for us. We praise the Lord our God and are left standing in awe of His power to work to perfection even the smallest of details.

We will be in touch, just wanted to let you know how we are doing real quickly!

Much love,
Amy for the Tuttles

April:

Dear Friends and Family,

One very important ministry with which we have begun to get involved is called: "Bendiciendo Matrimonios" (Blessing Marriages). Last weekend we got together with the other leaders in this group and invited several married couples to a big BBQ at our house. All 58 of us gathered around the campfire, sang songs, ate hamburgers, listened to a message, and then listened as I finished the night giving our testimony. It was a great time and very evangelistic. Please pray that the Lord would draw to Himself some (if not all) of the 26 unbelievers who came.

As we are getting busier, most of our energies are spent on the work in our local church here in Cajamarca. One of main reasons being: I (Micah) can be close to the family. While there is much to do in the city we don't want to neglect the ripe harvest fields in the surrounding "campo". I have made short trips to each of the following small communities: Granja Porcon, San Marcos, San Pablo, and Auque. Each place has its own story and while I cannot write in detail I have listed below a bit about each place.

La Granja Porcon

Godo (our co-worker) and I have the opportunity to preach every month at a large cooperative community called La Granja Porcon about an 1 hour away. Usually about 200 people come to listen each time we visit. The last time we were there 4 people came forward wanting to begin a new life in Christ. They begged us to come preach the gospel and try to establish a church in their pueblo! (virtually impossible for us to do at this point) They live so far away and we are loading up with more ministry each day... We need help! More workers! The harvest is ripe! Please, Lord send workers!

San Pablo

Two weeks ago I traveled with another missionary (Guy Pembroke) to the small mountain village of San Pablo. We stayed there for 2 days preaching and teaching at a conference where elders and leaders from the surrounding communities came out for Bible capacitation. I taught two sessions that went for about an hour and a half each. The first day we went out into the streets and invited people to a special evening meeting. Later we began in the open air singing songs and Guy gave a short challenge to come into the church building. The meeting continued on quite late and many people heard the gospel as we preached our hearts out.

Auque

To arrive in Auque, two brothers from the assembly and I traveled 5 1/2 hours by bus and from there we hiked 2 hours on a precarious trail cut into a shear rock cliff. With cliffs climbing up to the heavens on both sides of us the view was absolutely spectacular as the sun began to set. Along the way we passed several caves many of which are filled with Inca bones, artifacts, and hieroglyphics.

Finally we arrived at the small farming community where we received an extremely warm welcome. We were served rice, potatoes, corn, lentils, milky cheese, egg soup, guinea pigs, and corn stalks. "Yum!" After dinner one of the ten believers there got on the loud speaker and announced to the whole valley that for the first time ever a "gringo" foreigner had come to visit and that he had a special message for anyone who would come out for the evening meeting.
Inside the adobe (rock &dirt) building, I started out the meeting giving a gospel message for about an hour. We sang and listened to the testimonies of 5 believers from the community. Then they asked me to finish the meeting with another hour-long message. I gave no invitation, but when I finished, three people came forward wanting to place their faith in Christ as Savior and Lord! As we knelt on the dirt floor in the light of kerosene lamps I was reminded of how saving faith transfers a person from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of God’s beloved Son.

Please pray for us and the Lord's work here in Peru.

March:

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!

I just got off the phone with Dave and Sue Walt. What an encouragement it is to hear that people are praying and thinking of us. Thanks so much for all of you who are praying! We are so grateful to the Lord for his inconceiveable blessings. It is difficult to believe the extent of the Lord’s hand that we are seeing in so many areas of our life here. Part of me wants to think it is too good to be true! But this is our Lord from whom we are receiving it, and He is good. As I have been reading through the Psalms with the intention of finding verses to put up throughout our new house, I have been struck with this particular aspect about our God; His Goodness. "One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving." Ps. 62:11 We can trust in His character. Daily He is teaching us that though we believe Him, we trust Him by relying on Him for our every breath and live in Him, waiting for His promises. What a wonderful thing to realize anew every day that He is trustworthy and we can throw ourselves at His mercy not only because He is strong, but loving too.

The Lord has given us a house. It was easy to choose. It was the only suitable house for rent. :) Cajamarca isn’t a very big city. This said, it is not to imply that we settled for the only thing available. It is the best house we could’ve imagined. Praise the Lord!! It is perfect for our family. We will enjoy it while it is ours to care for.

School here starts in March. Not only will the boys be going to school every day starting the 8th, I will too! I will be teaching English, Swimming, and Table Etiquette (which is a laugh!). I will also be helping in the area of administration and secretary. I am privileged to be able to serve with some really special ladies! The church is opening a school with the intention of reaching the community and bringing more people to the Lord. We will start this year with three, four and five year olds. Education is of amazing value here in Peru. It is seen that starting even at 3, 4 and 5 years, that if your child can get a jump on the rest of the population, to get the best grades, he or she will gain a spot in the national university (tuition is free to those with the highest grades). And so, the race is on, the competition is high even among preschools and kindergartens as to who offers the best head start for these young kids. We need 25 kids in order to pay all the teachers and all the bills. We have 15 and classes start in less than a week. Please pray the Lord would bring the children to our school and through us, to Himself.

Apart from the school, Micah is little by little getting more involved in different areas of ministry. He has met with the elders since having arrived and visits a "growth group/rebaño" every week with another elder to encourage as well as to evaluate their teaching. We go to our own "rebaño" every Wed. night as well which is encouraging. Micah will be preparing the study for all the rebaños this coming week. Pray for guidance and language skill in this. Speaking of language, Micah translated several times this last week in meetings for a brother from Scotland, this was a reality check for both of us of our practical knowledge of Spanish, and was somewhat comical. We keep improving every week it seems, nonetheless, translating is different than speaking and Micah did an exceptional job considering his experience in this area. He also preached this last week for 20 minutes in one of the outlying churches. The family that lives around the corner continue to study weekly with Micah and another brother. They have been coming to church weekly. Their names are Marcelino, Juana and their son Carlos. We want also to pray for our landlord Elías, he seems to be another person the Lord has the intention of drawing to Himself. Also for Rosa our housekeeper, who the Lord has put into our lives, someday we’ll have to make room for her little story.

The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made. Psalm 145:13
Thank you for your prayers for us. We love you all and pray that you will seek the Lord, because as you do, He will bless you abundantly as He has promised.
