to top off the trip there was a detour that put us back several hours. There was some bridge repair going on, and so they shut down Peru's only highway, rerouted all traffic to a dirt and gravel and pot holed road. It was amazing. Huge semis where traversing the back desert road with us. Very bothersome actually. But we imagined that this was what travel was like back in the Elliots' prime years.
